A food expiration tracker that tells you before it is too late
Knowing something expired is useless. SeePantry works out an expiration date for every item from its category and where you store it, warns you three days out, one day out and on the day, and lets you act straight from the notification without opening the app.
Free to start. No account needed to try it.

Dates you do not have to enter
Expiration is estimated from the category and the storage location, so milk in the fridge is treated differently from milk left on the counter, and dry pasta is treated differently from fresh. Move an item between locations and the date recalculates. Mark a jar as opened and it recalculates again. You can always override the date yourself.
Reminders you can act on without opening the app
Notifications carry buttons: Mark Used, Extend 2 Days, Freeze Now, Add to List. Most of the time you never open the app at all. Alerts group sensibly rather than firing once per item, and adapt to how you actually use SeePantry.
A ranked list instead of a wall of dates
Kitchen Copilot scores every item for waste risk and shows only what matters today: eat this first, freeze that tonight, use this before Thursday. Every suggestion is advisory, and every action can be undone within five seconds.
Common questions
- Is there an app that reminds you before food expires?
- SeePantry sends expiration reminders three days before, one day before, and on the day, each with one-tap actions to mark the item used, extend the date by two days, freeze it, or add it to your shopping list.
- How does the app know when my food expires?
- It estimates from the food category and where you store it, across 29 categories and four storage locations, and recalculates if you move an item or mark it opened. These are honest estimates for typical storage conditions, not food safety guarantees, and the app says so.
- Can I track expiration dates for things that are not food?
- Yes. Medicines, cleaning supplies, personal care items, pet food and baby products all have their own categories and their own sensible shelf lives.
